Campaign

Dive into this incredible short story World War Two film!

About the Film

The setting is occupied Italy. The main character is an experienced and stubborn German sharpshooter. His assistant is a newly arrived Conscript who is clearheaded and wants to give up. This results in some tension between these two characters. It reaches its height when American soldiers show up. The assistant attacks the Sharpshooter causing their location to be revealed and a firefight ensues. One of them dies and the other is captured, having to live with the regret.

Filmming
Process

Filming Campaign was a creative challenge, especially with the decision to shoot the entire film on an iPhone. This choice gave us incredible flexibility, allowing for dynamic shots and intimate close-ups that heightened the film's tension. The iPhone's portability made it easier to navigate tight or rugged spaces, and with the use of specialized apps and lens attachments, we achieved a cinematic quality that belied the simplicity of the equipment. This approach not only kept production costs low but also empowered us to experiment and capture scenes with an immediacy that added to the film’s raw, visceral impact.

Our location was a dense forest, perfectly emulating the rugged landscapes of wartime Italy. The forest’s natural light and varied terrain provided a rich, immersive backdrop that amplified the film's atmosphere. Shooting in this environment presented its own set of challenges — unpredictable weather, uneven ground, and the logistics of transporting gear. Yet, the authenticity the location brought to the film made every hurdle worthwhile. The forest’s quiet isolation heightened the characters' tension, and the interplay of light and shadow through the trees added a haunting beauty to the more intense sequences, grounding the story in a stark, unforgiving reality.
